Why is Trademark Engine asking me for more information?
Additional information may be needed to clarify details related to the trademark, ownership, goods and services, or other aspects of the application. Providing complete and accurate information helps ensure the application is properly prepared for filing.
A Trademark Engine order and a USPTO trademark application are related but separate records. Before filing, the order may move through information collection, conflict checks, preparation, attorney or legal-team review where applicable, customer approval, fee collection, and electronic signature. The USPTO process begins only after the application is actually submitted to the government.
After filing, the USPTO assigns a serial number. That serial number is the government's unique identifier for the application and can be used to view the official record in the Trademark Status and Document Retrieval system (TSDR). Internal order statuses can differ from TSDR because the systems track different parts of the process.
