How do I upload documents to my Trademark Engine account?
To upload documents to a Trademark Engine account, the customer should sign in and look for the red "ACTION REQUIRED" banner on their dashboard. Clicking the banner opens the questionnaire, which guides the customer through the required steps, including uploading a specimen file. Accepted file formats are typically PDF, JPG, and JPEG.
A Trademark Engine order and a USPTO trademark application are related but separate records. Before filing, the order may move through information collection, conflict checks, preparation, attorney or legal-team review where applicable, customer approval, fee collection, and electronic signature. The USPTO process begins only after the application is actually submitted to the government.
After filing, the USPTO assigns a serial number. That serial number is the government's unique identifier for the application and can be used to view the official record in the Trademark Status and Document Retrieval system (TSDR). Internal order statuses can differ from TSDR because the systems track different parts of the process.
A specimen is evidence showing how the trademark is actually presented to customers in commerce for the goods or services listed in the application.
